European Business Development Program

Together with TEM (the Finnish Ministry of Employment and the Economy) and BNS Oy International, SAI has developed a program to assist Finnish companies to address a number of European countries, notably France. It is based on our experience with market entry in France and the conviction that potential clients must be approached regularly and systematically from a local base. The first of this kind of program started in June 2013.

Participation involves a minimum of four companies from various sectors.

The new program is divided in two phases. The first phase is intended to contain an extensive business opportunities review in the local market and will serve as the foundation for future actions in the market. The program aims to:
- identify business opportunities and analyze the best entry mode in the target country
- develop an active client data base for participants
- provide a local presence for them in Paris or Stockholm with phone number and answering
- design, together with the participants, a French, Swedish or German web page with the local presence details
- maintain contact with the participants in Finnish or English

The second phase is more action-oriented. The second phase consists of:
- approach the potential partners in the database by phone, email and face-to-face meetings
- business trip(s) in the target country with interested parties
- attending local trade shows of interest to the participant
- assist in getting a local trade journal to publish an article of the participating company’s service or product
- follow-up of business trip, monitoring of agreements and keeping contact with the companies met

However, the contents of the phases are always negotiated and agreed-upon together with the client and phase 1 can also accommodate companies who are already a bit more advanced in their market knowledge. Contact Petteri Hilska of SAI Finland for further details.
